On May 1st, GC Magazine highlighted the best masonry contractors in the U.S. These 25 companies were chosen because of their excellent reputations in the industry and extensive experience, many with portfolios that include awards from both Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA), state associations (such as Texas Masonry Council), and Local Associations (such as United Masonry Contractors Association, Central Texas Mason Contractors Association, San Antonio Masonry Contractors Association). In looking at this list of contractors, there are a few things that we can see in common:
They are mostly all members and active in their local, state, and national associations, believing that the masonry industry is better when we work together. Many are helping with apprenticeship programs to help with labor shortages in skilled craftsmen. Almost all of these companies have at least one person serving on a board or committee for either their local, state, or national masonry association.
They all use mast climbers to increase their productivity and safety on projects. Most own their own, bringing more to the table for high profile projects. These companies all make safety their top priority. They each have robust safety programs and know that sending everyone home at the end of the day is the most important thing for their employees and their businesses. Many of these companies even have dedicated safety managers that coordinate everything that it takes to keep everyone safe and provide all of the necessary documentation and training required for large scale projects.
